PMI is Proud to Introduce to You to Our Ambassadors:
Field Testers

Ranging from climbers, to cavers, alpinists, and rescuers, they bring great input and experience to PMI.

Marc Beverly:

Marc is the pure definition of Attention Deficit Disorder. From being Certified with the AMGA and IFMGA (International Certification), to being a Physician Assistant/EMT-Paramedic instructor. After ice competition season is over he teaches level 1 and 2 avalanche courses throughout the southwestern United States. He has competed in mixed rock and ice events and put up many first ascents on both rock and mixed terrain. He has volunteered for local mountain rescue groups in New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah for over 25 years. Marc is also a published guide book author of Jemez Rock, and performs and presents some exceptional research in climbing and rescue work. The white papers are available at his websites. He also runs Beverly Mountain Guides based in Albuquerque. While working for Strike Rescue, Marc's philosophy of "light and fast" carries over into training small teams of rescuers how to be more efficient yet safe.

Jay Smith:
Jay Smith has put up more than 500 first ascents from Patagonia to the Himalayas. PMI has had the privilege to work with Jay for a majority of his impressive 30+ years climbing career. If he is not spending time climbing, you can find him guiding the US Special Forces, creating stunning photographs, or rigging the Primal Quest Adventure Race Course.

Timy Fairfield:
Timy's career has been focused around competition and the development of difficult sport climbing and bouldering. As a veteran of the US National climbing team, he has competed in Regional, National, World Cup, and International Invitational Masters level events. Not only does he continue to send extraordinary routes, he is a mentor and teacher for the up and coming climbers all over the world. Kitty Calhoun:
Kitty has been a pioneer in high altitude climbing. As one of the finest alpinists around, she has set the standards high in the climbing world. She was awarded the Robert and Miriam Underhill award from the American Alpine Club. An honor presented to a climber who demonstrates the highest level of "skill, courage, and perseverance in the mountaineering arts."

Berta Kirchman:
In 1989, during the National Speleological Society's Vertical Section Annual Rope Climbing Contest, Berta smashed the long standing Women's World Record with a time of 4:16.3. In 1995, she broke her own record with a time of 4:07.1, and almost a decade later, her record still stands. She has made unrivaled rope ascents out of deep limestone shafts in Mexico and a 1,700 foot rope climb out of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison in Colorado. Berta is also a member of the Rappel Safety Team at West Virginia's Bridge Day Festival. She shares her love for rope work and the ethics of her mentors by passing her knowledge and skill to others. When she is not in training or caving, Berta can be found volunteering at regional and national rope climbing contests or assisting with SRT and cave rescue courses.
